Going solo on exchange

I tried to make friends yeah... but it's harder than you think. You see, you can't just put two people - equally desperate for friendship- together and wish for chemistry. Alas, I shall let fate decide whether or not I get to be like those people who are featured on the frontpages of exchange brochures; or perhaps I can get used to sipping tea and reading a French novel and hugging my cat to sleep.
