Staying chic for Chinese new year
The best way to stay away from gaudy is to embrace it wholeheartedly.
This year, I am going all out crazy with red. I have gotten my nails painted red -by myself of course, since I am too cheap to go to a salon- and I have gotten my Chanel red lipstick ready.
I realised after observing tons of fashion shows and stuff that the line between gaudy and artistic lies in one's confidence. Really. For some reason, certain girls in school who are wearing really cute outfits but are walking with their shoulders slouched and backs bent just look like ugly clothes hangers; while girls who look confident and fit seem to rock any outfit- even if it is just a simple tank top with shorts.
This year, instead of shying away from red, I must learn to embrace my own beauty and strut down the streets in fuchsia glory.
